The Ontonagon Artist Collective is pleased to announce that we have received a grant from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)! This support from MACC and NEA provides us with the ability to connect our tiny, remote community to a variety of arts and crafts.
This grant provides us the ability to continue existing programs and activities and add new ones. In the two years of our existence, we have already received enthusiastic reviews from both local residents and visitors for programs such as Art in the Park, Fiber Fridays, Watercolor Wednesdays and an annual Gingerbread House competition, held in our gallery in downtown Ontonagon.
This grant will help us support local businesses by continuing to provide themed paintings for their main street windows beautifying the downtown. In addition to supporting our existing programs, the grant funds will give us the ability to extend our gallery hours one day a week to offer in-depth classes in a variety of crafts, expand our class offerings and activities, purchase additional needed furnishings for the gallery and supplies for our classes, and contract with Grow and Lead, a Marquette, MI organization that provides support and guidance for nonprofit organizations.
OAC positively impacts the local area by offering cultural and artistic experiences that enhance our community. We are establishing a tradition of offering quality artistic opportunities at prices our residents can afford.
Thank you to our local businesses and residents for your support, the resulting impact on our area is very important!
